(Senior) R&D Engineer (m/w/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Munich or Kirchdorf

Your mission
  • Provide technical support for improving and developing photovoltaic (PV) products, particularly open area PV-Installation systems such as Trackers, Floating-PV, Fixed Tilted Systems, and Agri-PV.
  • Engage in the entire R&D lifecycle, from concept ideation to final testing, documentation, certification, and technical support for supply chain setup.
  • Focus on mechanical challenges related to PV-Trackers, including control systems, manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance of final products.
  • Propose innovative solutions for technical issues.
  • Conduct technical assessments of solution concepts and perform initial mechanical assessments and pre-sizing of components.
  • Perform risk assessments and optimize mechanical components for mass-market requirements.
  • Develop system processes for machine operation and production.
  • Plan and execute testing of mechanical components and systems, occasionally abroad.
  • Conduct occasional site visits for on-site testing or general product engineering investigations.
  • Assemble and test prototypes and evaluate test results.
  • Create technical statements, documentation, and explanations in both German and English.
  • Provide technical support for supplier evaluation and certification processes.
  • Collaborate with external service providers and support research projects with partners.
Your profile
  • Strong technical understanding with good spatial imagination.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.
  • Proficiency in static pre-sizing of mechanical components.
  • Basic knowledge of machine dynamics and vibrations.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience in R&D of mechanical parts.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering and control systems.
  • Basic programming knowledge is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Understanding of cost calculation basics.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Desirable proficiency in German.
  • Strong teamwork abilities.
  • Basic manual skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to construction sites and suppliers worldwide.
